Police Continue Investigation of Blake Chappell Homicide

Newnan Police Department Statment

The Newnan Police Department confirmed today that as efforts to investigate the homicide of Blake Chappell continue, detectives with the Newnan Police Department on March 20, 2024 served three (3) search warrants at individual residential locations in the Sharpsburg area. The detectives recently identified new leads and information regarding the homicide investigation. This additional information led the detectives to apply for search warrants in the three (3) locations and resulted in the collection of evidence, which will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further analysis. While some suspects were removed from the list of persons of interest in this case, one person of interest was voluntarily interviewed by the Newnan Police Department.

At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is active and ongoing.

Other information and Updates

We’ve been told by neighbors in the area that officers, using metal detectors, have been searching the woods behind one or more of the locations located on Beaver Creek Lane. The photos below, provided by an area resident, seem to confirm this and show officers working in a stand of trees that has been roped off with crime tape.

We continue to follow this investigation closely and will update with any information we come across.
