Emergency Management plans and prepares for disasters and emergencies and coordinates the efforts of all emergency services during and after an emergency or disaster occurs. EMA also serves as the liaison between all local emergency services and any state or federal support services.

Emergency Management is the preparation for delivery of all emergency functions (other than those provided by military forces) to prevent, minimize, and repair injury and damage resulting from emergencies, energy emergencies, disasters, or the imminent threat thereof, of manmade or natural origin caused by enemy attack, sabotage, civil disturbance, fire, flood, earthquake, wind, storm, wave action, oil spill, water contamination, epidemic, air contamination, blight, drought, infestation, explosion, riot or other hostile action, or other causes.
