The Honorable Judge W. Travis Sakrison
Hon. W. Travis Sakrison is a judge for the Coweta Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Nathan Deal on January 30, 2015, filling the vacancy created by the passage of House Bill 742.
The Coweta Judicial Circuit is comprised of Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether and Troup Counties.
At the time of his appointment, Sakrison was executive director of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. Before that, he worked as a deputy chief assistant district attorney in DeKalb County and as an assistant district attorney in Fulton County. During his time as a prosecutor, Sakrison handled felony and misdemeanor cases.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. Sakrison went on to complete a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law.
After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as a clerk for the Hon. John Ellington with the Court of Appeals of Georgia.
Sakrison and his wife, Marcy, resided in Newnan with their children at the time of his appointment to the bench.
